Outsider art project with Ayse Somoncu

Together with Ayse Somuncu in 2021 I worked on an art exhibition, in which Ayse’s work was leading.
I wanted to make a large installation that celebrates her art, my art, but also fashion. I worked in a very loosely way with Ayse and tried to create new things all the time, it was all about the process for me, but Ayse always wants concrete results. I made wall hangings from her drawings. I send her figures from my world as inspiration for the drawings. The collection consists of wall hangings, art dolls, teddy bears, witches and scary masks, all beautiful things. And also a party dress.

The Outsiderart project was initiated by Stichting Captain Hoek. The works have been exhibited at Gallery Fleur en Wouter, Amsterdam Museum, MaMA Rotterdam and Nest Den haag. Parts of the series are included in the art collection of Dordrechts Museum and the Dutch government.

Find HERE the artworks in the online shop, or CONTACT for more artwork.

About Ayse Somuncu
Ayse loves beautiful things, and fashion, but also cuddly toys, Disney princesses and other fun figures. She knows very well what she finds beautiful, or ugly, or cool. She doesn’t know exactly what an exhibition is yet. Ayse loves to draw, she wants beautiful things to be made with her drawings that she makes with marker on fabric.
