Ties that bind: We are all mothers
State of fashion Arnhem asked five artists to make a work for the current exhibition ‘Ties that bind’.
I created an installation with a tapestry that shows my tender and sensitive relationship to my late mother. I have a quilt she made and gave me when I was young, and the quilt is decaying. This is the basis for the textile artwork that I covered with a new layer of patchwork of collected fabrics with personal meaning, a new layer of love, hand-applied with intrinsic craftsmanship, and on top of it a text expressing a mother’s love.
